The Great Firewall of God

We are the tillers of the toxic soil of the Crucifixion. We practice an austere and hostile agronomy. We plowed him into the toxic soil of the Crucifixion with the same insouciance as the farmer who plows manure into a furrow.

Why? Why did the most Holy Trinity permit this to happen? Why did the most Holy Trinity allow us to plant the seed of divinity in the toxic soil of the Crucifixion?

The most Holy Trinity wanted us to discover for ourselves an insight that illuminates the darkness of our understanding of God. They wanted us to experience a glorious burst of epiphany about the identity of God. They wanted us to know our God. The conversation between the Crucifixion and the Resurrection is the primary and most accurate source for knowledge about our God.

In the toxic soil of the Crucifixion, we tortured and killed him. He suffered and died. Into the black hole of death, we roughly stuffed him, wiped his blood from our hands and wished him good riddance. Yet, this was not the end of the story. This was only its beginning. He emerged from the dead sill alive and still in love with us. He did not stay dead and he did not stop loving us. That he did not stay dead is the proof of the power of Jesus. Nobody emerges from the dead. He did. That he did not stop loving us is the proof that our conception of divinity as power is incomplete. Divinity is also love - a mysteriously intransigent, inexplicably persistent and radically stubborn love .

When the seed of divinity blossomed into the flower of the Resurrection from the toxic soil of Crucifixion, we discovered the firewall. Between the evil we did to him and his love for us, sits a firewall. It is a great abyss that blocks the road on which evil ordinarily travels. It stopped our evil dead in its tracks. It made it impossible for our evil to reach and extinguish the bonfire of love that burns for us in his Most Sacred heart or reduce it by even the slightest degree. The firewall is insulation that disconnected his love for us from the evil we did to him. The firewall disconnected the fuse from the bomb. When the fuse is lit the bomb ordinarilly explodes. Not so with our God. Not so.

The most Holy Trinity let the conversation between the Crucifixion and the Resurrection take place so we would get a sense of their love for us. This knowledge transforms us. Planting the seed of divinity into the toxic soil of the Crucifixion remediates the toxicity of the tillers of the soil.
