Christianity is a treasure map for treasure hunters engaged in a treasure hunt. The answer to the question, 'Who is God?', is the treasure of Christianity. To answer the question, 'Who is God?', God sent us a Love Note. Jesus is the fleshy expression (John 1:14) of God’s love for us. He is Love incarnate. Jesus dropped a bombshell of revelation about God into the Valley of Tears. The bombshell exploded on the road from the Crucifixion to the Resurrection to illuminate the darkness of our understanding of God in a glorious burst of epiphany. The road from the Crucifixion to the Resurrection is the treasure chest that holds the answer the question, 'Who is God?' (Matthew 13:44). To pinpoint the precise location of the treasure of Christianity for future generations, God erected a landmark. He established a reference point. On the treasure map, a Cross marks the spot of the treasure. God planted the Cross of Christ (1 Corinthians 1:17) in the road from the Crucifixion to the Resurrection to serve as the flag that rallies Christians to the Son of God. RALLY 'ROUND THE CROSS!
What are your most precious possessions? I will tell you my top two. 1) The love note that God delivered to me on His way into the world at Bethlehem. 2) The guarantee that the love note is genuine that God delivered to me on His way out of the world at Calvary.
