What are we doing to sweeten the pot?

WE ARE TRAPPED TOGETHER IN THE SAME POT

We are trapped together in the same pot. It is called the Valley of Tears. When we piss in it, we ruin it not only for the target of our venom but for ourselves. “One Lord, one faith, one baptism,” (Ephesians 4:5). Therefore, add nothing to the pot that increases its toxicity. Dilute the toxicity of the pot with the sweet fruits of love, one of which is forgiveness. Water the toxicity down. Refuse a demotion from the level of our loving God to the level of the most miserable and hideous of loveless beast. When we fall, we contaminate the pot. The greatest, most pernicious heresy is that each of us lives in our own pot - that we are isolated in our own, independent silos. Now is the time to know what we do (Luke 23:34) - to recognize our shared, dire predicament and that it is in our own self-interest to sweeten the pot. What are we doing to sweeten the pot?

Jesus is the Love Note that God sent us to dilute the toxicity of the Valley of Tears in the same way that sugar cubes dilute the bitterness of a cup of bad coffee. He poured the sweet syrup of forgiveness into the boiling pot of his baptism.

Jesus diluted the toxicity of the Valley of Tears with forgiveness in the same way that sugar cubes dilute the bitterness of a cup of bad coffee. Forgiveness sweetened the pot.
