The serpent sugarcoated the toxicity of the Valley of Tears

Our rationality steers the ship. The fuel of our rationality is the truth. When fueled by the truth, our rationality steers us in the right direction. When the truth is adulterated with illusions, our rationality leads us astray. In other words, lies can throw a monkey wrench into the gears of our rationality. Lies can manipulate us to act in ways that are contrary to our self-interest.

To induce Adam and Eve to exit Eden and enter the Valley of Tears, the serpent sugarcoated a life lived, without God, in the Valley of Tears (Genesis 3:5). The sugarcoating was the serpent’s testimony that they would become gods without God in the Valley of Tears. The serpent promised them deification. He lied big. The sugarcoating distorted their perception of reality. It threw a monkey wrench into the gears of their rationality.
