The Purpose of Calvary

“How do we convince them that we love them? We let them torture and kill us, rise from the dead and continue to love them nonetheless. If this does not convince them that their God loves them, nothing will”.
— The most Holy Trinity

God's plan is to rescue us from our predicament in godlessness. Furthermore, the key to God's plan is our rationality. God holds the opinion that rational creatures will flee from the sourness of godlessness and seek the sweetness of paradise.

A lifetime is an infinitesimally thin slice of existence compared to the thickness of eternity. God gives us a lifetime in godlessness -the valley of tears - so we can taste for itself its sourness.  This experience is harsh but effective medicine. It shatters the illusion conjured up by the serpent that godlessness is superior to paradise.

God gives us a taste of the sweetness of paradise at Calvary. That God continues to love us nonetheless despite the fact that we tortured and killed the Son of God while He was human, alive, tender and vulnerable tells us that the nature of God is indestructible love for us.
